Book Review: Wicked Bugs

Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army & Other Diabolical InsectsWicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon’s Army & Other Diabolical Insects by Amy Stewart

This is a book written on a similar vein to Amy Stewart’s WICKED PLANTS, which has a similar shape and layout. The previous book I read from a hard copy, but this one I listened to as an audiobook. I recommend the paper version, as I believe the book includes illustrations.
Stewart explains in the beginning that a lot of her “bugs” aren’t really bugs at all, but include spiders, scorpions, and various worms. If you’re the kind of person who loves to read about horrible diseases (that’s me!) you’ll find that this book covers some familiar territory.

While written for all ages, I think this book would be a great gift for a young person who is interested in science and equally interested in grossing out his or her family members by telling them about horrible insects and what happens if you get bitten or stung by one.
