I made this cup using a really cool technique that I had never seen before. They called it the quench technique. I gathered, colored it with a little yellow frit, then got a second gather. Got a thin layer of transparent red on the second gather. Once it was blown almost out, I got it molten hot, then dunked it in a bucket of water. this caused the outside to chill dramatically. Immediately afterwards, I blew it out, causing hte red color to crack like a riverbed. I’m very happy with how it turned out.
