The owls were obviously meant to be part of a collage, since I drew them on opposite sides of the paper so I could maximize the resist. But they are so busy that the resist pattern doesn’t add much. Also, I find owls hard to draw sometimes. Their faces don’t lend themselves well to it, or something.
On the other hand, i’m happy with the lovebirds. They work compositionally, and the brightly colored ink is a nice contrast to the dull brown of the background, even though the white ink around the eyes does nothing. I should try to remember to use acrylic wash if I want white on one of these, as the white ink seems useless.
